Asian Art to shine at Sotheby’s, October 2011 Sotheby’s Hong Kong Autumn Sales 2011 will offer a wide selection of Asian and Chinese Art, from Imperial porcelains to Chinese contemporary Art. The 3,400 lots on offer are expected to fetch in excess of $300 million.]]>

At the sale of contemporary Asian art –to be held on October 3rd 2011- Zeng Fanzhi’s colorful “Mask Series” (1998, pre-sale estimate of $510,000-770,000) contrasts with Liu Wei’s “Who am I?” (1999, $390,000-640,000). On the same day, the 20th century Chinese Art auction will be led by Zao Wou-ki’s “10.1. 68” (1968, $3.2-4.5 million).
The following day, Sotheby’s will offer an auction of over 30 lots, dedicated to the University of Oxford China Centre. The highlight of the auction is an “Imperial Yellow Satin Embroidered ‘Dragon’ Robe” (Qing Dynasty, Qianlong Period), estimated at $190,000-260,000. On the same day, the sale of Fine Chinese paintings include Fu Baoshi’s “Pavilion in the Solitude of the Mountains” (1943, pre-sale estimate of $1.5-1.9 million).
The Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art auction will be held on October 5, and it will offer the Meiyintang collection, which ranks among the finest private collections of its kind in the world. Highlights of the sale include a “Rare Blue and White Vase with Fruit Sprays, Meiping” and a “Famille-Rose “Peach” Vase, Tianqiuping”. Each one will carry a pre-sale estimate of $10.3-12.8 million.
