Born in Guangdong in 1976, Tsang Kin-wah moved to Hong Kong in 1982. He is currently one of the most important Chinese contemporary artists, exhibiting his work in Beijing, Paris, New York, and throughout the world. Tsang often incorporates text and letters to create singular works that look as if they were wallpaper pattern designs.
The exhibition at the Mori Art Museum displays the latest installation in Kin-Wah’s “The Fifth Seal” series, a series of seven video installations comprising texts projected onto the walls and ceilings of dark rooms. These works raise fundamental questions for the viewer, from the Bible to politics or philosophy.
The dynamic installation at the Mori Art Museum incorporates sound and -as the Museum explains in a press release- “is to feature bracing provocations that will jolt the body and mind of the viewer“.
