Auguste Rodin: The Gates of Hell
Auguste Rodin retrospective in the Royal Academy of Arts of London
Along with Michelangelo, Bernini or Antonio Canova, the name of Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) appears at the pinnacle of Sculpture of any time. Due to this, any exhibition dedicated to him is always an important event, and the major retrospective that the Royal Academy of Arts of London will held from September 19th 2006 till January 1st 2007 will not disappoint: almost 300 pieces -including sculptures, sketches and drawings- from the most important museums of the world -including the Rodin Museum of Paris- will form one of the most complete exhibitions ever devoted to this essential master. Many of his greatest masterpieces -“The thinker”, “The Gates of Hell”- will be present in one of the most important Art events of the year.
The exhibition -organised in ten different sections following a chronological order- puts special emphasis on Rodin’s trips to Great Britain, showing the connections between the French master and many important figures of the British Art and literature of his time, including several important members of the Royal Academy of Arts.
