The expositions of PhotoEspaña consists of 66 exhibitions of 370 artists from 55 countries, including Cindy Sherman, Thomas Ruff and Frank Montero Collado, three artists whose works form the exhibition ‘1000 Faces / 0 Faces / 1 Face’. In addition, PHE11 organizes over 60 activities, including photography workshops, debates, family workshops and other activities in the city streets, fostering public participation.

One of the most interesting events in this edition of PhotoEspaña is ‘Fayum Portraits + Adrian Paci: No Visible Future’, taking place in the National Archeology Museum. The exhibition brings together 13 Fayum portraits, some of them coming from the British Museum and dated between the first and third centuries BCE; and puts them beside the contemporary works of Albanian artist Adrian Paci. According to the press note of the exhibition, “Paci work play with time stops, and its protagonists (…) are subtly fashioned like the living-dead of Fayum”.

Outside Spain, the Museum Colecção Berardo of Lisboa incorporates to PhotoEspaña with an exhibition devoted to the work of Alfredo Jaar, entitled ‘A Hundred Times Nguyen’, focused in the girl Nguyen whom the artist met at a refugee camp. The exhibition will continue until 26th August.
