The improvement of the major economic indicators, along with tax reforms for purchasingart, paint some favourable conditions for activating the art market, to which the Faircontributes with an important programme of activities for internationalpromotion directed towards collectors, prescribers and institutions of the main artistic markets.

In this regard, nearly 20% of the Fair’s overall budget, which went up this year to 4.5million Euros, has been invested in its guest programmes which willbring Madridmore than 250 collectors and 150heads of institutions, commissioners of biennials andother international prescribers from the world of art, in addition to internationalpromotion initiatives and direct actions with collectors from great artistic scenes likeGermany, Belgium and Brazil, as well as Spain.

The Fair has again put the focus on the distinguishing feature that has beenconsolidating over the last few years, such as its capacity for discovering new talents. Therefore ARCOmadrid is asserting itself as the fair for discovering artists andresearching their work. Of219 galleries selected by the Organising Committee and thecurators of the different programmes, more than 60will present one or two artists intheir stands within the new General Programme proposal,SOLO/DUO, as well as in the sections#SoloProjects, #FocusFinland and #Opening.

This new approach will be reflected in the presentationsof the 25 projects of theGeneral Programme which will formpart of the SOLO/DUOproposal with artists such asJulio Le Parc, inDel Infinito Arte; José María Sicilia,in Chantal Crousel;Jan de Cock, in Deweeror the dialogue between Hanne Darbovenand Rosemarie Trockel, in Crone Galerie, andLuis Gordillo and Susana Solano, in the proposal of Maior.
